The agricultural sector plays a pivotal role in the economies of Thakubaba, Chhedagad, Barbardiya, and Janaki Municipalities. Recognizing the importance of sustainable agricultural development, the municipalities have undertaken the task of formulating comprehensive agricultural strategies to enhance productivity, improve livelihoods, and ensure food security.

The primary objective of this agricultural strategy is to outline a roadmap for sustainable agricultural development in Thakubaba, Chhedagad, Barbardiya, and Janaki Municipalities. The strategy aims to address challenges such as land fragmentation, limited access to modern farming technologies, and changing climatic conditions.

Key Components of the Agricultural Strategy:

  1. Crop Diversification and Rotation:
    • Promote diversification of crops to enhance resilience against climate change and market fluctuations.
    • Encourage crop rotation practices to improve soil health and reduce pest and disease risks.
  1. Technology Adoption:
    • Provide training and support for farmers to adopt modern farming technologies, such as precision agriculture, irrigation management systems, and mechanization.
    • Facilitate access to improved seeds, fertilizers, and pesticides.
  2. Water Management:
    • Implement efficient water management practices to ensure sustainable water use in agriculture.
    • Promote rainwater harvesting and efficient irrigation methods to optimize water resources.
  3. Livestock and Dairy Development:
    • Support the development of livestock and dairy sectors to provide additional income sources for farmers.
    • Improve animal health and husbandry practices through training and veterinary services.
  4. Market Access and Value Chains:
    • Strengthen market linkages for farmers by establishing farmer cooperatives and connecting them with local markets, processors, and exporters.
    • Enhance value addition through processing and packaging of agricultural products.
  5. Climate Resilience:
    • Integrate climate-resilient practices into agricultural activities to mitigate the impact of changing climatic conditions.
    • Provide training on climate-smart agriculture and disaster preparedness.
  6. Capacity Building and Training:
    • Organize training programs for farmers on modern farming techniques, pest management, financial literacy, and marketing skills.

The agricultural strategy for Chhedagad, Barbardiya, and Janaki Municipalities reflects a commitment to sustainable agricultural development. By addressing various challenges and promoting innovative practices, the municipalities aim to improve the livelihoods of local farmers, ensure food security, and contribute to the overall economic growth of the regions.

Recognizing the critical role of nutrition in ensuring the health and well-being of their populations, Janaki and Thakurbaba Municipalities have embarked on the journey to develop comprehensive nutrition policies. These policies aim to address nutritional challenges, improve dietary practices, and enhance the overall nutritional status of their residents.

Key Components:

  1. Nutrition Education: Raise awareness about balanced diets and healthy eating through schools, health centers, and community events.
  2. Local Food Production: Support local farmers, encourage backyard gardening, and promote access to fresh produce.
  3. Maternal and Child Nutrition: Focus on pregnant women and breastfeeding support for better maternal and child nutrition.
  4. Food Security: Establish food assistance programs for vulnerable populations during times of need.
  5. Nutrition Standards: Implement nutrition standards in school meals and healthcare facilities.
  6. Monitoring and Evaluation: Regularly track policy implementation and update based on feedback and emerging research.

By fostering collaboration, promoting awareness, and implementing evidence-based interventions, Janaki and Thakurbaba Municipalities aim to enhance community health and well-being through improved nutrition.
